As the costume designer for the smash hit HBO teen drama Euphoria, Heidi Bivens has a next-level sense for how one’s personal style can act as the most idiosyncratic form of self-expression.

“As early as I can remember, I have understood the concept that clothing can be a conduit for communicating one’s personality and tastes,” Bivens says in her new book released with A24, Euphoria Fashion.

As we await the highly anticipated third season of Euphoria, the new coffee table book offers an inside look at the series’ show-stopping style, with exclusive guides to the creative process and interviews between Bivens and the cast.

Zendaya, Hunter Schafer, Sydney Sweeney, Maude Apatow, Alexa Demie, Barbie Ferreira, Angus Cloud and Jacob Elordi are all included, as well as the show’s creator Sam Levinson and makeup artist Doniella Davy.

Described as an “encyclopedia of fabricated fantasy,” the tome identities everything from the micro miniskirts worn down the halls of East Highland High School to the jaw-dropping ensembles worn to house parties after dark.

Euphoria Fashion is about more than just the costumes,” reads the description. “It’s a guide in understanding that clothes are a conduit.” The introduction was written by former Moschino creative director, designer Jeremy Scott, and the book includes exclusive Q&As with the designers behind womenswear label Copeni, Sébastien Meyer and Arnaud Vaillant and fellow costume designer Arianne Phillips, known for her work in 2022’s Don’t Worry Darling. While Phillips never contributed to the series, Bivens counts her as a respected mentor.

Euphoria Fashion dives deep into the reasoning behind each sartorial choice, with flat-lay breakdowns of the ensembles.

Bivens reflects on how some of season 1’s episodes featured 30 costume changes for just one character. She dives into Rue’s (Zendaya) emotional connection to her burgundy sweatshirt, Maddy’s (Demie) I.AM.GIA Lucid plunging bra top and cutout pants from the carnival scene and more. She also explained that in season 2, she had the chance to curate more intimate and detailed outfit choices for the cast.

Bivens will be back for season 3 of Euphoria, and she’ll be lending her talents as creative producer on Levinson’s upconing series The Idol, starring Lily-Rose Depp and The Weeknd, set to hit HBO later this year.
