Whether she’s hitting the slopes, water skiing, MMA training or fixing up her red vintage 1969 Ford Bronco truck, Sydney Sweeney is always up to something exciting and adventurous. The Euphoria actress even hopped on the back of a motorcycle for Jacquemus and put her automotive skills the test in an ad campaign for Tory Burch last year.

Now, the Echo Valley actress has partnered with Ford for its new campaign, “Built Ford Proud.” According to the American automobile manufacturer, Sweeney first learned to dive in her grandfather’s 1967 Ford F-100 pickup truck. Since then, the star has nurtured a lifelong passion for Ford vehicles. “Sydney feels right at home getting her hands dirty while restoring her vintage Bronco SUV she proudly named ‘Cherry,’” the brand states in the campaign.

Ford has released a limited-edition clothing collection in collaboration with Sweeney and in partnership with Dickies, that reimagines workwear for women. From pink and khaki Bib overalls, baby blue printed bandana, and baseball caps, the collection blends fun and function and is “designed to get dirty.”

Sweeney even has a TikTok account (@syds_garage) dedicated to her love for restoring vintage cars, which boasts over 1.4 million followers. It all started when she purchased her “vintage dream car” — a red 1969 Ford Bronco — in February 2021. The automobile didn’t work correctly, so instead of bringing it in to get fixed, she decided to get her hands dirty — and even attempted to try and get it back up and running herself.

“I come from a family of mechanics,” Sweeney says in a clip. “I was the only girl in the shop. A vintage Ford Bronco was my dream car. I knew I wanted to restore it myself and I wanted to get my hands dirty, so that’s what I did.” She continues, “I hope other women see my passion for cars and want to follow their own passions too.”

In September 2021, the Barbarella actress gave more insight into how it all began. “I’ve always wanted a Bronco, and I got one. I called up my friend’s dad Rod Emory and was like, ‘Rod, I need a space in your shop,’” she told Teen Vogue. At the time, she finished the transmission, “which my mom was really mad about,” she confessed. She then moved onto putting in new brakes and switching out the suspension.

“It’s going to be the start of many,” she shared. “People say, ‘What do you do for you?’ This is my escape. I feel like this is a relationship between me and the car and the parts.” Though the Bronco is up and running, she is about to dive into a new project — she bought a baby blue Ford Mustang convertible in May 2021, which she named Britney.

Currently, the star is in Sydney, Australia filming her new romantic comedy with Glenn Powell and she gave some insight into what fans can expect. “Just know the movie is going to be so much fun. It is so funny,” Sweeney told ET. “And it gives love, it gives humor, it gives sex. It gives all the great things that make a movie. And we want to bring back the good ‘ol rom-coms with Will Gluck, and we’re having a great time doing it.”
