While Euphoria’s second season is only mid-way, HBO’s ratings for the series have gone through the roof. With its season 2 premiere basically breaking the internet, 14 million viewers tuned in across all platforms since the Emmy-winning series’ return, per HBO. That is double the average rating for Euphoria’s first season and places the season 2 premiere as the most viewed episode of an HBO series ever on HBO Max, prompting the swift green lighting of a third season.

Starring Emmy-winning actress Zendaya, along with an extraordinary cast of up-and-comers including Hunter Schafer, Sydney Sweeney, Alexa Demie, Jacob Elordi, Mauve Apatow, Barbie Ferreira, Angus Cloud, Storm Reid, Colman Domingo, Eric Dane, and Dominic Fike, the show follows a group of troubled teens navigating everything from abusive relationships, drug abuse, their own identities, and self expression in the fictional East Highland High.

Executive Vice President of HBO Programming Francesca Orsi said, “Sam (Levinson), Zendaya, and the entire cast and crew of Euphoria have taken season 2 to extraordinary heights, challenging narrative convention and form, while maintaining its heart. We couldn’t be more honored to work with this gifted, wildly talented team or more excited to continue our journey with them into Season 3.”
