Our favorite enthusiastic expat is returning to screens! We’re talking, of course, about Emily Cooper with season 4 of Emily in Paris.

In case you need a refresher, leading lady Lily Collins gave fans an update on the beloved Netflix series and reminded us where everything left off in an Instagram video made in collaboration with the streamer’s companion site Tudum. More importantly, she also shared what we can expect next — as Emily embarks on a trip to Rome.

“We are getting ready for season four of Emily in Paris and are so excited to see what’s next for Emily,” Collins says in the clip. “It’s safe to say we ended on a dramatic note last season, and surprise! It does not end there. So much happened that we just need answers to. Is Alfie still heartbroken? Will Gabriel get his Michelin star? Will Mindy and the band go to Eurovision? And what about Camille? Will Sylvie’s rekindled love last? And the question on all of our minds, will Emily and Gabriel finally get together? I wish I could tell you more, but you’ll just have to wait to find out.”

Teasing what’s to come, Collins continued, “What I can tell you is that we have more fun, more fashion, and of course, more drama in store for you all. Emily is going to have to decide if everything she’s ever wanted is really what she needs. And while Emily’s heart will always remain true to Paris, her life takes some unexpected twists this season. Don’t be surprised to find her on a Roman holiday.”

She captioned the post: “So excited to announce that @emilyinparis season 4 will take us and fans on a Roman holiday! Tune into #TUDUM now for more live updates. Au revoir! Or arrivederci.”

Netflix announced that Emily in Paris had been simultaneously renewed for seasons 3 and 4 back in January 2022. According to Variety, both seasons were filmed back-to-back in France earlier this year.

While the streamer has yet to officially announce a release date for the next iteration, it’s worth noting that the last two seasons dropped in December, so we’re holding out hope that the next installment will be available to stream towards the end of 2023.

The main cast is expected to return, with Collins as Emily, Ashley Park as Mindy, Camille Razat as Camille, Lucas Bravo as Gabriel, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu as Sylvie, Samuel Arnold as Julien and Bruno Gouery as Luc.

Lucien Laviscount tenure as Alfie on the series came into question when his character dramatically stormed off in the final episode of season 3 after he and Emily broke up because he’s “nobody’s second choice.”

Luckily, according to Emily in Paris creator Darren Star, Alfie’s place on the show could be safe. Star recently told Deadline, “I don’t think romantically he is in the picture [anymore]. I don’t think that [takes] Alfie out of the show. He certainly has a reason to be in Paris, and he’s working with Gabriel. I feel like all of our characters are still connected, just in a more complicated way.”

We’re placing our bets that one cast member may not return, at least for the entity of season 4. Kate Walsh‘s character Madeline shut down the Parisian branch of Savior’s American conglomerate the Gilbert Group and returned to Chicago in season 3. We’re crossing our fingers we get an appearance or two from Emily’s former boss.

To catch you up, (Beware of spoilers!) season 3 almost gave Emily her happy ending with Gabriel. When his surprise wedding to his longtime girlfriend Camille is interrupted, the hunky chef is finally available. In the last moments of episode 10, Gabriel reveals to Emily that Camille is pregnant with their baby.

“We wanted to have this ending, because it comes as a big revelation at the last moment of the season,” Star told Tudum of the bombshell cliffhanger. “We wanted that to be something that would build on so many other moments.”

Starr also told Entertainment Tonight, “It’s very clear in season 3 that it’s a big dream of [Gabriel’s]. He wants to be a father and I think he was excited and is excited about the idea of fatherhood, but you know, our show doesn’t move that quickly.” He continued, “One season really covers a couple months… We’ve had three seasons and maybe six months of actual time [have passed], so I’m not sure we’re going to actually see a baby in season 4. But I think that we’re going to have to deal with the prospect of the baby.”
