Lily Collins‘ engagement ring, wedding band and other precious belongings were stolen from her during a visit to a luxury hotel in West Hollywood.
The Emily in Paris star headed down to the hotel spa and is said to have placed her rings and electronics in storage beforehand. When Collins returned, she discovered that her items were missing, according to TMZ.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has launched an investigation into the theft totaling “over $10,000,” according to a report. The police have confirmed that there was no sign of forced entry from where the items were taken. The department is investigating the hotel’s security footage, looking for any information that may lead to the thieves’ arrest. No arrests have been made yet.
Collins married director Charlie McDowell in September 2021 in a dreamy outdoor ceremony in Colorado, wearing an ethereal lace Ralph Lauren wedding gown.
The Mirror, Mirror actress announced her engagement in September 2020. McDowell popped the question while on a trip to New Mexico with a ring that is believed to feature a 3-carat cushion-shaped, rose-cut, center stone on a flared, yellow-gold textured bezel that allows one to see through the diamond.
McDowell helped design the one-of-a-kind bauble with renowned jeweler Irene Neuwirth. “Thank you for making the most beautiful ring I’ve ever seen,” McDowell wrote to Neuwirth on Instagram. Collins commented, “Thank you from the bottom of my heart SO much for the most stunning, perfect ring. It’s breathtaking.”
Collins has described the unique engagement ring as her “favorite new accessory.”
According to Apeksha Kothari, the chief operating officer of diamond search engine Rare Carat, a ring like Collins’ could have cost anywhere between $75,000 and $100,000.
“The purest joy I’ve ever felt…,” Collins captioned one of her engagement posts on Instagram, showing off her new bling with a huge grin on her face. “I’ve been waiting my lifetime for you and I can’t wait to spend our lifetime together…,” she said in another.
McDowell took to social media at the time to celebrate the occasion with the caption, “In a time of uncertainty and darkness you have illuminated my life. I will forever cherish my adventure with you. 💍🎉.”
Collins and McDowell met while working on the set of his film Gilded Rage in 2019 before going public with their relationship in early 2020.
