From the outside looking in, it seems like Sydney Sweeney is your typical rising star — gorgeous, talented and has millions and millions of Instagram followers. However, the actress has a few tricks up her sleeve, including that she has a TikTok account dedicated to fixing cars — and she is an MMA fighter. Yes, you read that right.
In 2018, Sweeney revealed to Marie Claire that she started practicing the sport when she was 14 years old, and she competed in her first competition at 18 years old.
“It was a grappling competition against all guys a weight category above me, and I got first place,” she said. “Those guys were probably saying, ‘Oh, we didn’t want to hurt her,’ but they were definitely trying. Everyone broke a sweat!”
The TV starlet took up the hobby when she was younger. “My mom and my dad would tell me to try and fall in love with as many things as possible,” she said while on The Kelly Clarkson Show. “[I was] like very into it.”
But since Sweeney is now one of the stars of Euphoria and The White Lotus, she has to put her MMA training on pause.
“Unfortunately, you sign a little piece of paper that says you’re not to do X, Y, and Z and I am all of X, Y, and Z,” she confessed.
Fortunately, it looks like the Washington native got to put her skills to the test again, as she posted a video of herself boxing and fighting on Instagram.
“Missed this,” she captioned the clip.
Needless to say, fans were impressed by her moves. Maude Apatow, who plays Lexi on Euphoria, wrote, “Holy s**t,” while Bella Thorne simply added two fire emojis in the comments section.
Others couldn’t help but make a joke about Maddy (Alexa Demie) and Cassie’s (Sweeney) fight in Euphoria. (Cassie has been hooking up with Maddy’s ex-boyfriend, Nate, behind her back, which causes a lot of drama.)
One person wrote, “training for maddy i see,” while another added, “Getting ready for Maddy 😎 (jk) love you ✨🤍.”
It seems like Sweeney can do it all — and we’re here for it!
