If you haven’t heard by now, Mugler is having a moment. The brand made headlines last week when it unveiled its new collection with H&M. Then, it had a major presence at Coachella over the week. Headliners Bad Bunny and Blackpink both chose Mugler during their highly anticipated performances during weekend two at the 2023 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.

The reggaeton and Latin rapper wore a custom-made Mugler look on Friday night, comprising of a black leather biker jacket over a corseted hoodie, featuring a zip-up detailing with a sheer, boned, mesh corset bodice. Bad Bunny teamed his top with fitted black trousers with sheer mesh paneling and a safety-buckle belt.

Bad Bunny’s stylist of four years, Storm Pablo (also known as La Tormenta) dressed the trap artist in two different Mugler ensembles, designed by creative director Casey Cadwallader.

The second look featured a light-wash denim set. He wore a button-down denim jacket with black mesh paneling over a plain white tank and jeans featuring the brand’s signature “Spiral” paneled construction for a modern spin on the Canadian tuxedo.

The “Dakiti” artist carried a black cowboy hat, and accessorized with a black belt with a silver “B” buckle, dazzling layered necklaces and chains, and a gold watch.

Rosé, Jennie, Jisoo and Lisa of K-pop girl group Blackpink returned to the stage in Indio, California on Saturday evening to headline the second week of Coachella.

The superstars switched in and out of several outfits throughout their almost two-hour set, adorning Alessandra Rich, Paco Rabanne, David Koma and a set of custom ensembles from the house of Mugler.

Designed by Cadwallader, all four women dazzled in sparkling petal pink outfits from the house, with different iterations of Mugler’s famous corset.

Lisa adorned an intricately beaded pink corset with a criss-cross halter neck with a matching mesh long-sleeve bodysuit beneath. She teamed her top with high-waisted pink sequined-embellished pants with thigh-cutouts.

Jisoo wore a waist-cinching pink bedazzled corset with a cross-neck detailing and a matching pink sequined miniskirt with asymmetrical panels, while Rosé chose a corseted minidress with symmetrical side cutouts at the waist. The singer teamed black bike shorts under her high-hemline with a thigh-high slit.

Jennie wore a pink shimmering abs-baring corset with daring sheer mesh side cutouts with low-rise baggy bedazzled pink pants and matching fingerless gloves for the performance.

Mugler’s appearances at Coachella come hot off the heels of the brand’s H&M collaboration launch last Wednesday. The collection will drop online and in select stores beginning May 11. In a panel discussion ahead of the global launch event, Cadwallader said, “Pop culture is a big part of Mugler. There’s the making and the sculpture of the clothes and how it works with the curves of the body, and then there’s the culture of Mugler.”

He continued, “For me, when I started at Mugler, it was so important to get it back onto pop stars, get Mugler back onto the stage. Its performative aspects was always so much of what Mr. Mugler did.”

With the latest set of fashionable headliners at Coachella, Cadwallader certainly achieved his goal in getting Mugler back on pop stars — and the designs are stealing the show.
