After working with Chanel as a brand ambassador since 2017 and sitting front row at countless shows, BLACKPINK star Jennie recently took on a new title as the face of the brand’s latest campaign for the Coco Neige wintersports collection. Today, the collection officially launched with a conversation with the singer, often referred to as “Human Chanel” by the “Blink” (the Blackpink fandom.) In the almost one-minute video, Jennie unveils why Chanel is so important to her and her favorite looks she modeled for the collection.
The collection itself boasts both sport and style with Chanel’s agile grace and hints of illuminating pink. “You want to look like you’re having the best time skiing, but also tell people that you didn’t lose your edge, you know?” Jennie says in the video debuting the Coco Neige collection. The marriage of the two aesthetics come to form in essential winter sports pieces, a jacket embellished with the iconic double Cs, trousers printed with the letters of CHANEL, an immaculate ski suit, a long pearl-grey down jacket with a removable hood, and a parka just in time for the arrival of ultra-cold weather.
Accessories take centerstage within the masculine-meets-feminine spirit collection. Small bags worn high on the arm and metal necklaces intertwined with leather, punctuated with a cardholder or a headphone case, have been functionally designed for unrestrained enjoyment on the slopes and elegant enough for apres ski hotty toddies. “I think her [Virginie Viard] creations make every woman feel like they can be themselves.” the it-girl adds. Bringing this idea to life, photographers Inez and Vinoodh captured the muse in a series of images embodying multiple facest of the Chanel spirit: irreverence, nonchalance, freedom of movement, and elegance.
The Coco Neige 2021/2022 collection is now available in select Chanel stores beginning on October 19th.
