While there have been rumblings of a You and Emily in Paris crossover, now fans are convinced that Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall) from Sex and the City will make a cameo in season 3 of the Netflix series, if it is renewed.
In And Just Like That — HBO Max’s reboot of the original series — Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) reveals that Samantha got a job in London and is no longer based in the United States. During the season 2 finale of Emily in Paris, Emily Cooper (Lily Collins) receives a job offer, meaning that she could stay in the City of Light for longer, and therefore, she could have run-in with Samantha.
It wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibilities as Darren Star created both shows.
“Current theory: Samantha has supposedly moved overseas, hence her lack of presence in the new SATC TV series. Then she shows up by total surprise in a crossover episode of EMILY IN PARIS,” one person wrote on Twitter. “I would watch Samantha try to tolerate Emily, 100 percent.”
Some fans believe that Samantha could be Emily’s superior. “It would be deeply chaotic and entertaining if Darren Star hires Kim Cattrall to be Emily In Paris’s boss named Samantha in an upcoming season,” they said.
Since Emily’s new love interest Alfie (Lucien Laviscount) is moving back to London and wants to try a long-distance relationship with the marketing guru, maybe Emily and Samantha just so happen to run into one another in London.
“Emily moves to London to follow Alfie and finds herself in a new position working for Samantha Jones PR,” one fan speculated.
Adding fuel to the fire, in September, Cattrall shared a photo of herself with Patricia Field, who is the costume designer on Emily in Paris.
“Celebrating tonight with the amazing @patriciafield,” the caption read.
It’s unclear at the moment what job and man Emily chooses, but one thing is for sure — fans want more Emily in Paris stat, including Collins herself.
The actress said she would “love the opportunity to get to do a season 3” — and she even “keeps asking!”
Hopefully, viewers will see Samantha and Emily sipping on a latte at a European café sooner than later.
