After months of teasers in the form of sightings of the iconic cast filming on the streets of NYC just as much as official trailers from HBO, finally, the day has arrived: the highly-anticipated revival of Sex and the City, And Just Like That, is here.

Not only are fans of the show excited to see Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis reprise their roles and be back on screen as best friends Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte (miss you, Samantha), but they’re equally as excited to see the fashion on display and how the women’s iconic wardrobes have changed in the years since the show aired.

Clearly aware of the hype around her character’s wardrobe, to mark Carrie’s comeback, Sarah Jessica Parker went all out for the show’s premiere on Wednesday night in New York, wearing one of her—and her on-screen character’s—favourite designers: Oscar de la Renta. Not only that but Parker got the custom gown made with clear tributes to Carrie through its design with a Carrie-approved silhouette and sparkles and a matching cape for extra Carrie extraness.

But the main nod to the stylish fictional writer came via the addition of a full tulle pink skirt. As even an SATC novice will know, arguably one of Carrie’s most famous outfits is the ballerina skirt Carrie twirls around in in the original show’s opening credits. As the @EveryOutfitOnSATC Instagram account pointed out, the dress also bears a striking similarity to the Chanel Couture tulle number that Parker wore the 2004 Golden Globes.

Parker finished her look with custom SJP Collection heels in rose satin—a stiletto is another Carrie signature—and pulled her hair back into a sleek bob.

Parker’s co-stars didn’t miss the opportunity for a fashion moment, either. Davis emulated her character Charlotte in a navy off-the-shoulder gown by Jason Wu, while Nixon wore an orange dress by Christopher John Rogers and matching orange boots.

If this red carpet was anything to go by, we can’t wait to see the style in the show.
