Could this be what dreams are made of? If you’re a fan of Netflix’s hit series Emily in Paris and You, then we may have good news for you!
During the season 2 finale of Emily in Paris, Emily Cooper (Lily Collins) may end up taking a job in the City of Light, meaning that she could extend her stay. When we find Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley) at the end of season 3, he is now in Paris, trying to find his new love Marianne (Tati Gabrielle). In the final scene, he is seen walking out of a cafe with the Eiffel Tower in the background, so it’s more than possible that Emily and Joe could meet face to face in the Netflix Cinematic Universe, a.k.a. the NCU.
But this isn’t the only hint that Emily and Joe are destined to meet.
In season 2, episode 3 of Emily in Paris, Luc (Bruno Gouery) takes Emily to the Père Lachaise Cemetery for her birthday, where they visit Honoré de Balzac‘s grave. While it may be a bit strange — Emily sure is confused — he gives the Europe transplant some advice about her love life. After all, she is trying to figure out if she wants to be with hunky chef Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) or try out a relationship with Alfie (Lucien Laviscount).
“Don’t waste time with girls or thinking about Marianne number one or Marianne number two,” he says. “Just never date a woman named Marianne. Never.”
“Who are all the Mariannes?” she asks.
But viewers know who he is talking about!
Season 4 of You will most likely drop next year, but it’s too early to say whether Emily in Paris will grace our screens again, as it has yet to be renewed for season 3.
But it’s not out of the realm of possibilities that these two worlds collide as You showrunner Sera Gamble previously teased that she would be so happy if the show could film in Paris.
“I would love to do a season where Joe stepped outside the United States and was an American fish out of water,” Gamble shared.
It’s unclear what — if anything — will happen between Emily or Joe, but here’s hoping, right?
