Alicia Silverstone’s iconic Clueless character, Cher Horowitz has never loosened her grip on fashion girls since the release of the cult-beloved film in 1995. This week alone, Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried have both showcased the enduring influence of the perennial style icon with especially preppy ensembles.
Promoting her new film Reality, Sweeney made an appearance on TODAY in New York City on Wednesday, wearing a retro-looking pastel Thom Browne skirt suit from the Spring/Summer 2023 collection, reminiscent of a 1990s school uniform or something out of Gossip Girl.
Styled by Molly Dickson, Sweeney sported a mint green buttoned blazer over a matching dress shirt with a white tie and a round collar. The Anyone But You actress teamed her look with a pleated mint green skirt with vertical white stripes on the folds.
Carrying a black quilted leather clutch, Sweeney completed her ensemble with white scalloped socks and black slingback pumps.
The Emmy-nominated actress wore small gold hoop earrings and styled her blonde strands in voluminous, blown-out waves with a middle-part. Sweeney sported blushed cheeks, mile-long lashes, black eyeliner and a soft pink lip.
The day before, Seyfried was spotted outside of the Good Morning America building in the Big Apple to promote her new miniseries A Crowded Room, wearing a yellow plaid suit set that also could have been pulled out of Cher’s wardrobe.
Seyfried let her blonde hair own in loose, soft waves with a middle-part, and sported pink rosy cheeks with a feline flick of black eyeliner.
School may be out for the summer, but school girl style is all the rage.
