Amanda Seyfried looked like a winner on the red carpet at the 2023 Critics Choice Awards, but during the night, she began to unravel (quite literally) in her golden lamé Christian Dior Spring/Summer 2020 Couture gown.

“It’s old, it keeps breaking,” she told Access Hollywood on the red carpet. “I’m not kidding, it keeps ripping. It’s actually like breaking.” When one of her shoulders dropped during the interview, Seyfried joked, “I’m just going to take off my dress. I’m just going to take it off. It keeps ripping. It’s fine, it’s fine. Honestly, it’s old. It’s beautiful!”

You would never know anything was off as she walked the carpet, oozing elegance in the off-the-shoulder design which featured a fringed ruched bodice that draped down into a flowing skirt with side cutouts that was made from a single piece of twisted, fringed gold lamé chiffon.

Teamed with matching gold platform Stuart Weitzman heels, Seyfried adorned a statement-making Cartier necklace and matching stud earrings, styled by Elizabeth Stewart.

The acclaimed actress tied her honey-blonde locks into a low ponytail with two wavy strands framing her face. Seyfried opted for a neutral, glowing glam look, with her signature pop of a red lip.

Seyfried took home the award for best actress in a limited series or movie made for television for her portrayal of Elizabeth Holmes in the Hulu original The Dropout. As she approached the stage to accept the honor, Seyfried could be seen grasping at her gown to stay put.

Once it was time to take the stage again to accept the win for best limited series alongside The Dropout crew, Seyfried played it safe and chose to wear a black jacket on top and let her wavy hair down to perhaps cover the fashion emergency.

Last Tuesday evening, Seyfried won the Golden Globe Award for best performance by an actress in a limited series, anthology series or a motion picture made for television for The Dropout, but was unable to attend the ceremony due to work commitments.

On top of her forthcoming drama anthology series The Crowded Room, Seyfried has recently signed on to a musical adaptation of Thelma & Louis alongside Evan Rachel Wood, according to Variety.
