Tom Ford just unveiled the final collection for his namesake brand. The legendary designer and CEO went into the archives to reissue some of his favorite looks from the last 13 years.

For his curtain call, Ford tapped into his cinematic prowess (don’t forget he’s also an accomplished director) and featured supermodels Amber Valletta, Joan Smalls, Karen Elson, Karlie Kloss and Caroline Trentini posing in a glass display case wearing his ultra-glamorous designs. In one image, the models cry while wearing funeral-esque black gowns. In another, Ford looks at the models from outside the vitrine, symbolizing looking back on his extraordinary career.

After reinvigorating the Italian fashion house Gucci and French maison Saint Laurent, Ford launched his own eponymous label in 2005. By 2010, the designer started his first womenswear collection.

Over a decade later, Ford is paying tribute to the quintessential Tom Ford woman, reinstating some of his most memorable designs. There’s a limited re-edition of the fuchsia chrome breastplate Zendaya wore to the 2020 Critics Choice Awards, the sequined athletic jersey minidress Beyoncé wore on stage during the Mrs. Carter World Tour in 2014 and Gwyneth Paltrow‘s white caped gown from the 2012 Academy Awards.

In November 2022, cosmetics giant Estée Lauder announced that it would acquire Tom Ford for approximately $2.8 billion. After achieving success with the fashion house’s beauty arm, Tom Ford Beauty, the global beauty company will now own the rights to the entire brand, including the clothing and accessories empire.

At the time, Ford announced he would stay in his current role within the company until at least 2023. “I could not be happier with this acquisition as The Estée Lauder Companies is the ideal home for the brand,” he said.

“They have been an extraordinary partner from the first day of my creation of the company and I am thrilled to see them become the luxury stewards in this next chapter of the Tom Ford brand.”

The collection will arrive in stores this fall.
