New year, new look for Karlie Kloss! The model took to Instagram on Wednesday, January 19, to show off her new brunette tresses.
“after a decade of being a blonde, i finally crossed over to the dark side,” the 29-year-old captioned a slew of photos of her outside in New York City.
Of course, her celebrity pals immediately commented on the transformation. Katy Perry wrote, “OMG ITS YOU,” while Rachel Brosnahan added, “Welcome 🔥.”
Sailor Brinkley-Cook added, “Gorgeoussssss.”
The model hasn’t dyed her hair in 10 years, but one time, she did play around with her tresses for a photoshoot.
“I got a call from Vogue. Not only did they want me to do this photo. Anna [Wintour] wanted me to cut my hair,” she recalled. “I was told I was going to show up at the shoot and they were going to cut my hair. I thought, ‘OK. What the heck? It’s a free haircut.'”
“[Hairstylist] Garren is holding my hair up. They did a haircut on set. I cried when I cut my hair. Not that Garren would do anything wrong, [but] as a model cutting your hair is really changing a part of your identity,” she continued.
Last year, Kloss went through a big change when she welcomed her first son, Levi, with her husband, Joshua Kushner. Though it can be overwhelming, the mom-of-one feels better than ever.
“I love my body in a way that I never have,” she admitted. “I never imagined that I would have a career [in which] my body would be so intertwined with my success or failure. That’s something that I really don’t like about being a model, but — it’s part of the job. I think it’s really unfortunate that there are still such narrow kinds of ideas [like] you need to be able to fit a sample size. I’m not going to change who I am to fit that.”
“In fashion, there are no boundaries unless you put them up. Maybe that was why I was able to get pregnant — for the first time I was taking care of myself,” she added.
