It’s official – a fully-fledged Balmain Beauty is set to launch in 2024. The French fashion house announced a new partnership with cosmetics giant Estée Lauder to “transform the luxury and couture beauty world”, according to a joint statement released by the brand. While Balmain currently offers a range of high-end hair styling products and accessories, this will be the maison’s first foray into other cosmetics categories.

“For over ten years, my Balmain team and I have been pushing the boundaries of what is possible in fashion. We’ve been determined to reflect the way that today’s diverse generation wishes to live and dress. So, obviously, there was no way that we were going to expand into beauty without ensuring that we had found the partner who understood and shared our outlook,” wrote creative director Olivier Rousteing in a post on Balmain’s Instagram account.

He continued, “From the very beginning, the team at @esteelaudercompanies made it very clear that they support Balmain distinctive vision, as well as our goal of disrupting the global luxury beauty paradigm. Knowing that — and knowing that Estée Lauder is the paragon of excellence — well, I can’t wait to start working with them.”

Rousteing revealed that in a bid to better create “my biggest dream come true”, he would be “going back to school to learn how to be a NOSE”. The range, which will officially land in the Northern Hemisphere’s autumn 2024, is said to include both beauty and fragrance that will “bring novelty, quality, inclusivity, diversity, and beauty” to the industry.

“My new journey is starting facing my dreams, my fears, my love and passion for beauty. I can’t wait for you to discover what I am working on and going back to school is such [a] refreshing adventure for me,” Rousteing wrote on his personal Instagram page. “After my accident 2 years ago, the meaning of beauty had changed for me. I see beauty in such a different way. Let’s work together [on] what means beauty today and tomorrow.”

“Balmain and Olivier Rousteing are visionary forces in global fashion,” said Guillaume Jesel, Estée Lauder’s president of global brands, Tom Ford Beauty, Balmain Beauty and luxury business development. “We look forward to working with them to expand the Balmain universe and forge a new space in luxury beauty that clearly reflects the strong, inclusive and fearless spirit of the brand.”

2024 can’t come soon enough!
