While being in Hollywood movies can be glamorous, it can also take a toll on your hair — just ask Sydney Sweeney!

The Euphoria star, who recently dyed her hair red for an upcoming film, spoke about the lessons she has learned from touching her tresses so much.

“The first time I dyed my hair blonde, I cried my eyes out because my hair naturally was [long. When] I dyed my hair blonde, I didn’t even cut it but it went up to my shoulders,” she told Bustle. “It’s so weird; my nails grow super fast, but my hair doesn’t. It’s been a battle of trying to get my hair to be healthy. I’ve been working on it [and] it’s getting better.”

Sweeney, who is naturally a brunette, has an important tip when taking care of one’s mane. “One of the biggest changes [to my hair routine] is this shower head [that I got from Amazon] that filters the water,” she noted. “The water isn’t as harsh and there are not as many chemicals in it. That has changed everything.”

Though her character, Cassie Howard, in Euphoria is always trying out new looks, the actress likes to keep it simple. In terms of makeup, she uses blush and mascara every day — and that’s it! However, she does have a weakness for manicures.

“I’m obsessed with fun nails; I change my nails like every two days,” she gushed. “It’s something I’ve always loved. I remember in middle school, I used to sit on my bathroom floor with all of my little nail art and try to do my own nails before I went to school. I consider my nails another accessory.”

During season 3 of the HBO series, fans got to see Cassie pine for Nate Jacobs‘ love, and according to Sweeney, she loved the “Oklahoma look” — you know, the one where she wore a gingham blue dress — but her top pick would be when Cassie turned into Maddy (Alexa Demie) at the birthday party and ended up getting a little too drunk. That “was the funniest part,” she said of the outfit and the scene.
