Euphoria actress Sydney Sweeney is taking her acting prowess to the big screen and going through a beauty transformation in the process.

On Tuesday, the star shared a snapshot on Instagram from the set of her new film, National Anthem from Bron Studios, in costume as the character Penny Jo Poplin. Gone are the golden locks she’s come to be known for, and instead, she debuted fresh, fiery tresses.

In the pic, Sweeney wrapped a red bandana around her new strawberry blonde locks and bangs, showcasing her freckled face.

Filmmaker Tony Toast took to Twitter sharing the same photo and gushing over Sweeney stating, “Hard to express how lucky we are to have Sydney bringing this character to life. A pro’s pro, a great actor, & an absolute joy to work with.”

With the film marking Tost’s directorial debut, another newcomer is entering the mix as well. Grammy-winning singer Halsey will be making her acting debut in the film alongside Richard Jewell actor Paul Walter Hauser, Red Rocket actor Simon Rex, Reservation Dogs‘ Zahn McClarnon, and Sweeney’s Euphoria costar Eric Dane.

Telling the gritty tale of a race to retrieve a rare and valuable Lakota Native American Ghost Shirt, the film explores the characters’ differing motives for their involvement in the hunt — some for greed, some for personal independence, and others to maintain the artifact’s dignity by returning it to its rightful place. As we await the news of a release date, GRAZIA will continue to keep our thumb on the pulse.
