Sydney Sweeney is one to watch — she has made a name for herself after starring in hit shows such as Euphoria and The White Lotus.

From an early age, the blonde beauty, 24, wanted to get into showbiz. So much so, she even put together a PowerPoint presentation at 12 years old, which touched upon why she and her family should move to Los Angeles.

“My parents thought it was a crazy dream, but when I showed them [the presentation], they saw it was a very mature, put together form of expressing myself,” the actress revealed.

However, her rise to fame wasn’t always easy. In fact, “there were many, many years I got told ‘no’ endlessly,” she admitted. “I got told I wasn’t good enough, I would never make it, I wasn’t pretty enough — all the time. And my parents were like, ‘Are we doing the right thing?’”

However, she preserved and scored major roles in two HBO Max shows. In Euphoria, which debuted in 2019, the TV star plays Cassie Howard, a young girl who likes to party.

“Cassie spoke to me on a different level, so I was able to find a depth to her. I hope that the different characters I play speak to people on a deeper level, whether it’s through one decision or one moment in their onscreen lives,” she explained of the character.

In White Lotus, she plays Olivia Mossbacher — a Gen-Z gal who doesn’t want to spend time with her family and only wants to be with her friend while they vacation in Hawaii.

“I go so in depth in the backstory that it’s not like one event that creates the person,” she noted of her process. “So, I literally have from the day Olivia was born until the first page of the script and many, many pages of memories and things and time lines that create and shape and mold her to be who she is.

Despite not having a great relationship with her mom (Connie Britton), Sweeney said that the matriarch “has shaped and is shaping her to be who she is.”

“I think that her entire life she’s had to live in the shadow of her mother as a strong, independent businesswoman who thinks that she is fully aware of the entire world, when really they’re in a bubble,” she continued. “Olivia was trying so hard to not be a part of that her entire life. And so I think a lot of her actions, especially in high school, were acting out against her mom’s perfection, which creates the monster she is now.”

It’s unclear if Sweeney will return for season 2 of White Lotus, but it sounds like she would be down to reprise her role.

“She’s a blast,” she said of Olivia. “She’s so far from myself, so it’s so fun to just like dive into this. And I’m so terrified of Olivia. It’s really fun playing a character that you’re scared of.”

Going forward, Sweeney is looking forward to starring in many more flicks and TV shows.

“I really can’t answer what character has been my favorite, they’re all so different and mean so much to me in different ways that it’s hard to pick,” she admitted. “I’ve learned so much about myself and others through each of my characters. But there are for sure other roles that I’d like to challenge myself with. I’ve been wanting to do a film that uses my MMA skills, so maybe a fighting or spy type film. But I do tend to find myself drawn to unexpected roles, so we’ll see what’s next.”

We can hardly wait!
