By now you may have heard (or seen photos) of a very important addition to the And Just Like That cast for season 2. John Corbett has been back on set to reprise his role as Carrie Bradshaw’s ex, Aiden Shaw, and the internet has had a lot of thoughts about it. Now, there appears to be another new star on the second season, after the show teased a photo of Sam Smith on set.
The official Instagram page of the show as well as Smith both posted photos of the Grammy-winning singer on set. “Up to something unholy on set,” read the Instagram caption. Smith posed from behind the trailer door with a peace sign, wearing a gray turtleneck sweater with a pink pocket square, light wash jeans, white Reebok sneakers and sunglasses. In the next photo in the slideshow, the Gloria artist sat in a director’s chair, ready for action.
It’s fair to guess that the star is on-hand to make an appearance in season 2 of the HBO Max Sex and the City reboot, And Just Like That — and we hope a musical performance is in store too!
Last month, longtime fans of the franchise were shocked when Sarah Jessica Parker and the AJLT official Instagram account shared images of Parker and Corbett holding hands, strolling down the street with the caption, “Shh. Don’t tell anyone.”
Since then, Corbett has been photographed filming with the rest of the beloved cast, Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), Charlotte (Kristen Davis), and Seema (Sarita Choudhury), as well as kissing Carrie on her iconic stoop.
In October, Deadline revealed that another high-profile guest appearance is in the works. Who’s the Boss? star Tony Danza will play the father of comedian Che Diaz (Sara Ramirez), Miranda’s latest love interest.
While the series has kept much of the details for its sophomore season quiet, And Just Like That has been known to be heavily photographed while filming in New York City. As we wait for season 2 to drop, we’ll be busy stringing together every hint we’ve seen and concoct an imaginary plot in our heads.
Season 2’s release date has yet to be confirmed. Watch this space for updates.
