And just like that… Aidan Shaw is back! After lots and lots of speculation that John Corbett would reprise his role as Aidan in the Sex and the City reboot, And Just Like That…, we finally have proof that he’s back on set.
On Friday, the official Instagram account of the HBO Max show, shared a series of photos showing Sarah Jessica Parker (Carrie Bradshaw) and Corbett holding hands walking down the street. “Shh. Don’t tell anyone,” the caption reads.
Parker echoed the caption in a comment writing, “Shhhh. X, SJ.”
The former flames are seen walking in the middle of a street together, with Parker wearing a colorful ruffled hot pink poncho with a plaid coat, gray button-down shirt dress and over-the-knee boots. Corbett was dressed in a utility jacket with purple pants.
Production for season 2 began earlier this fall, and we’ve gotten a few glimpses of the cast filming out and about in N.Y.C. (including Carrie carrying a pigeon clutch and Carrie embracing her producer Franklyn) but nothing has been as shocking as Aidan’s return.
This has been a long time coming, though. Ahead of season 1, Corbett told Page Six that he would be in And Just Like That, adding that he might be in “quite a few” episodes. But after all 10 aired, he was no where to be found.
In August, Deadline reported that Corbett was “set for a substantial, multi-episode arc.” The following month, Parker confirmed that Corbett would return, telling Entertainment Tonight, “Could be, could be. Well, you know, I can’t be like, cryptic about it anymore.”
Carrie and Aidan called it quits (again) at the end of season 4, but he made a memorable appearance in season 6 as a married man with his baby in tow. In the Sex and the City 2, Aidan made another return when Carrie just so happen to be in the same souk in Abu Dhabi as her former flame.
We may not know how they reconnected this time, but we can’t wait to find out!
