The story of the woman who lived in her shoe, well with her shoe in this instance, just got a new ending.

Sarah Jessica Parker’s on-screen existence as Carrie Bradshaw and real-life career with her eponymous shoe line has made her synonymous with footwear, the Sex And The City alumni has a new ‘shoe’ in her life.

Indeed, the one where Carrie met Kitty.

For fans of And Just Like That, the polarizing reboot to the iconic late 90s/early noughties series, you’ll be aware that our favorite fictional writer adopted a kitten in the ninth episode of season two ‘There Goes The Neighborhood’.

Though, Carrie doesn’t have a great track record with animals (see: Carrie losing Aidan’s dog Pete or happily letting a flock of roosters rescued from a cockfight in the Bronx live in a basement), her Aidan-induced love daze leads her to foster the stray, naming it shoe after its propensity for hiding in her shoe boxes.

Though, rather than looking to a professional cat actor (catress?), the call for the kitten cameo came from inside the house.

Innocuously revealing the news in an Instagram post, Parker shared that ‘Shoe’ is actually ‘Lotus’, a kitten she and her husband Matthew Broderick adopted earlier in the year.

“His off-camera name is Lotus,” the actress wrote in her Instagram caption. “He and his siblings were all given botanical names when they were rescued as newborns by the Connecticut Humane Society,” she continued.

“Adopted officially by the Parker/Broderick family in April 2023. He joins Rémy and Smila whom we adopted in May 2022. If he looks familiar, that’s because he is.”

Who knew that Parker had it in her to introduce the world to the first-ever feline nepo baby? We expect to see Lotus back in the third season of And Just Like That, but more importantly, on the picket lines striking with his fellow actors for fair compensation!
