Whoever said orange was the new pink, was seriously disturbed. Reese Witherspoon attended the New York City premiere of her upcoming film Where the Crawdads Sing (of which she’s a producer), channeling a character from one of her most iconic movies.

Evoking the pretty in pink style of Legally Blonde‘s Elle Woods, Witherspoon sported an elegant cocktail dress by Emilia Wickstead featuring a scoop neckline and a pleated bodice. Styled by Petra Flannery, the Big Little Lies star slipped into a pair of Aquazzura gold strappy sandals, and accessorized her look with Irene Neuwirth jewelry. With her golden blonde locks styled in free-flowing waves, Witherspoons natural, glowing beauty look was only further accentuated by her poppy-colored statement lip.

While pink has certainly been the color of the moment after Valentino’s Pink PP collection debuted and a slew of celebs hopped on the Barbiecore bandwagon ahead of Greta Gerwig’s Barbie film, Witherspoon’s interpretation called to mind a serious dose of nostalgia for her Harvard-bound character, Elle.

Lead actress of Where the Crawdads Sing, Daisy Edgar-Jones, arrived in an ethereal floral confection from Gucci’s Resort 2023 collection Cosmogonies. The English actress donned an intricately embellished dress featuring all-over floral embroidery with an asymmetrical skirt. The shimmering and tropical-esque dress appeared to be an homage to the marshes her character called home.

Pairing her look with pale pink strappy Gucci heels, the Fresh actress pinned her brunette locks back into a loose bun, letting her curtain bangs frame her face.

After her star-making performance in Hulu’s 2020 limited series Normal People based on the novel of the same name, Edgar-Jones is back with yet another best-selling book adaptation with Where the Crawdads Sing. The highly anticipated new film, based on the 2018 best-seller of the same name by author Delia Owens, is set to hit theaters on July 15.

The Reese’s Book Club pick follows the story of a young woman named Kya (portrayed by Edgar-Jones) who raised herself in the wetlands of North Carolina. After a series of unfortunate events, she becomes the main suspect of a violent crime involving a man with whom she was once romantically involved.

Directed by Olivia Newman, the film was brought to life by the Witherspoon-founded production company Hello Sunshine, which the actress sold the media business to private-equity firm Blackstone Group Inc. last summer for a whopping $900 million.

Designed to shift and elevate female-led stories, Witherspoon has brought the work of authors like Gillian Flynn’s Gone Girl, Cheryl Strayed’s Wild, Liane Moriarty’s Big Little Lies, and Celeste Ng’s Little Fires Everywhere to screens. With Where the Crawdads Sing and Legally Blonde 3 still in the works, Witherspoon has made strides with Hello Sunshine in reshaping what women can do in Hollywood.
