After her star-making performance in Hulu’s 2020 limited series Normal People based on the novel of the same name, Daisy Edgar-Jones is back with yet another best-selling book adaptation with Where the Crawdads Sing. And the highly anticipated new film, based on the 2018 best-seller by author Delia Owens, is set to hit theaters July 15.

The English actress celebrated the upcoming release at a photocall at the West Hollywood Edition on Tuesday. Edgar-Jones was joined by the film’s director Olivia Newman, costar Taylor John Smith, author Delia Owens, as well as producers Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Levy Neustadter at the beautiful garden location, surrounded by lush greenery.

Edgar-Jones opted for a feminine frock for her appearance, sporting an ivory lace embellished mini dress from Valentino’s Pre-Fall 2022 Promenade collection, with a tiered ruffled skirt. Embroidered with dainty flowers on the short sleeves and across the chest, the actress teamed her look with a pair of Valentino Garavani studded sandals, and pinned her brunette locks back into a loose bun, letting her curtain bangs hang.

Witherspoon chose a vibrant lilac toned pantsuit, pairing her look with a crisp white dress shirt and matching white pumps. The Academy Award-winning actress wore her blonde tresses parted to the side with tousled waves, and natural, minimal makeup.

The Reese’s Book Club book of choice follows the story of a young woman named Kya (portrayed by Edgar-Jones) who raised herself in the wetlands of North Carolina. After a series of unfortunate events, she becomes the main suspect of a violent crime involving a man with whom she was once romantically involved.

Brought to life by the Witherspoon-founded production company Hello Sunshine, the actress sold the media business to private-equity firm Blackstone Group Inc. last summer for a whopping $900 million.

Designed to shift and elevate female-led stories, Witherspoon has brought the work of authors like Gillian Flynn’s story of Gone Girl, Cheryl Strayed’s Wild, Liane Moriarty’s Big Little Lies, and Celeste Ng’s Little Fires Everywhere to screens. With Where the Crawdads Sing and Legally Blonde 3 still in the works, Witherspoon has made strides with Hello Sunshine in reshaping Hollywood’s antiquated idea of what a woman can or should be.

Edgar-Jones has also been having quite the busy year starring in both the thriller flick Fresh, and the heart-wrenching limited series Under the Banner of Heaven.
