As the summer season heats up, there are a lot of sizzling new releases to keep on your radar. Austin Butler transforms into the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll in ELVIS, Daisy Edgar-Jones brings a best selling novel, Where the Crawdads Sing, to life, and more. Catch all the must-see movies coming out this season, below.

Halftime

Out on Netflix on June 14, Halftime which chronicles the prep behind Jennifer Lopez‘s 2020 Super Bowl halftime performance with Shakira. It also promises to show more private moments in her life. According to Netflix, fans will see her “journey as a mom, Latinx creative and woman on the other side of 50.”

Elvis

Austin Butler transforms into the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll in Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis biopic. The film documents Presley’s rise to fame in the mid-century while maintaining a complicating relationship with his manager, Colonel Tom Parker, portrayed by Academy Award winner Tom Hanks. The film follows the life of Presley, his music, and his relationship with Priscilla (played by newcomer Olivia DeJonge), and of course, there are plenty of bedazzled fashion moments (thanks to Prada and Miu Miu) to see from the hip-swinging showman. The movie hits theaters June 24.

Where the Crawdads Sings

Based on the 2018 best-selling novel of the same name by author Delia Owens, the Reese’s Book Club pick follows the story of a woman (portrayed by actress Daisy Edgar-Jones) who raised herself in the wetlands of the deep South. She becomes the main suspect of a violent crime, where the victim is a man she once knew. Directed by Olivia Newman, Where the Crawdads Sing hits theaters July 15.

Nope

From the mastermind who brought us Get Out and Us, Jordan Peele is back with another mind-bending thriller flick. As caretakers at a California horse ranch come in contact with a strange, unknowing force, human and animal behavior seem affected by its presence. Out July 22, 2022, the film stars Keke Palmer, Judas and the Black Messiah’s Daniel Kaluuya Euphoria’s Barbie Ferreira, and The Walking Dead’s Steven Yeun.

Bodies Bodies Bodies

From Dutch director Halina Reijn and production company A24, this thriller shows what happens when a game at a party turns into a blood bath when a young and wealthy group of friends gather in a secluded mansion. The friend group consists of actors, Shiva Baby’s Rachel Sennott, The Hate U Give’s Amandla Stenberg, Borat Subsequent Moviefilm star Maria Bakalova, and Saturday Night Live comedian Pete Davidson. Catch it in theaters August 5.
