Not even Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s explosive tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey could outshine Kaley Cuoco and Amanda Seyfried at the Critics Choice Awards today. Ever so fitting on the eve of International Women’s Day, both actresses wore embellished suits; 35-year-old Cuoco in Dolce and Gabbana and 35-year-old Seyfried in Miu Miu.

Cuoco was nominated for her role in The Flight Attendant and teamed her look with Louboutin heels, a winning formula next to the Dior haute couture brigade (read: Yara Shahidi, Anya Taylor-Joy and Gillian Anderson). On the other hand, Seyfried who was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of 30s icon Marion Davies in Mank reinvented the tuxedo – with the help of stylist Elizabeth Stewart. The duo chose the embellished sheer tuxedo-style bib top, sequinned bow tie and cigarette pants.

Due to travel restrictions Seyfried was unable to try on the ensemble prior to the event, with Stewart telling a publication the actor just had to look at the sketch. Seyfried instantly fell in love with the look. “If this look was a cocktail, it would be one part Greta Garbo in Berlin with two parts Liza Minnelli in Cabaret and add a dash of Charlie Chaplin,” said the celebrity dresser.

While both women didn’t win, they certainly stole the show. As did Cynthia Erivo, who – with the help of stylist Jason Bolden – wore this Vera Vang showstopper. Not as neon-wild as the off-the-runway Valentino last week at the Globes but gosh, a close second.
