At the Miu Miu Spring/Summer 2027 show in Paris, the most interesting pieces looked familiar for only a second. A pair of jeans still carried the memory of the American West, while a running sneaker still belonged to the late-’90s language of speed and performance. Then the Miu Miu logic arrived, loosening both ideas just enough to make them feel slightly off, newly desirable and very much alive on the runway.

That tension has become one of the house’s most persuasive signatures. Miu Miu rarely treats a classic as something to preserve politely. It takes the everyday object, studies its codes, then gives it a little disruption. For SS27, that meant two collaborations with very different cultural memories: Wrangler, through the ongoing Miu Miu Upcycled project, and New Balance, with a new interpretation of the RC150 racing sneaker. Together, they turned denim and sneakers into the kind of clothes that make a wardrobe feel less obedient.

Wrangler x Miu Miu Denim Has A Western Memory

The Wrangler x Miu Miu collaboration begins with denim that already has a mythology. Since 1947, Wrangler has carried the visual language of rodeo, workwear and the American West, then moved through music and cinema until its jeans became part of a much broader style imagination. In Miu Miu’s hands, that history becomes material to cut into, lace through and reframe. The key piece on the runway was a slim-legged version of the Wrangler cowboy cut, hand-customized with crisscross lacing at the front. That lacing matters because it echoed a recurring SS27 detail, turning a functional jean into something more sensual and slightly undone. It made denim look less like a basic and more like a garment with tension built into it, somewhere between utility and provocation.

The collaboration also sits inside the Miu Miu Upcycled universe, which the brand introduced in 2020 as part of its circular design practice. Vintage pieces are sourced, deconstructed and reconstructed, allowing wear and history to remain visible while the final garment moves into a new context. Here, the Western jean keeps its rugged memory, then becomes sharper through Miu Miu’s strange little grammar of alteration. The full Wrangler x Miu Miu collection is expected in early 2027.

New Balance x Miu Miu RC150 Revives a Forgotten ’90s Racing Sneaker

The sneaker told a different story, although the same instinct for transformation was there. Now in its fifth year, the New Balance x Miu Miu partnership introduced the RC150, a late-’90s road-racing sneaker originally known for its ultralight 150-gram design. Vintage versions remain hard to find, which already gives the model the charm of a sneaker-world secret rather than an obvious archive pull.

Miu Miu’s version reworks the RC150 in malleable technical mesh, with contrast zigzag embroidery cutting across the upper. The shoe keeps its racing identity, then makes it more eccentric through details that feel almost improvised. The laces are loosely knotted at the toe through external loops, and because they are interchangeable, the sneaker invites small acts of personalization. It still speaks the language of performance, but now performance looks a little more unruly. The color palette reaches back to late-’90s running shoes, moving through softer and bolder combinations with the brightness of that era’s athletic design. Paired with an UltraLight sole, the sneaker keeps its agile character while entering the Miu Miu world of deconstruction and almost mischievous styling.

After the 574, the 530 SL and the 530 SL ballerina, the RC150 feels like the next step in a collaboration that understands sneakers as fashion artifacts, not just footwear. The show pieces are set to arrive in selected stores and online in February 2027, which gives the runway moment plenty of time to become an obsession.
