Today’s (virtual) Critics Choice Awards were tipped to be as underwhelming as the Zoom chaos at last week’s Golden Globe Awards. But leave it to the inimitable Maria Grazia Chiuri to plant a couture seedling in our news feeds; one so sumptuous and magical that it will take up permeance in our dreams this evening.

The Queen’s Gambit star Anya Taylor-Joy wore Dior Haute Couture Spring-Summer 2020 amaranth ballgown. Draped, twisted and fixed with delicate braids at the waist, Taylor-Joy’s gown took a stunning 200-hours to make and really was the antithesis to the structured emerald Dior gown the 24-year-old wore to the Globes last week in her London hotel. She picked up the Best Actress in a Limited Series or Movie for Television award for her role in Netflix’s The Queen Gambit.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank our incredible crew in Berlin. This show just wouldn’t have been the same without you and so I would love to thank you,” Taylor-Joy said via Zoom. “It was a privilege to watch you work every day!”

Taylor-Joy also wore over 90 carats of BVLGARI high jewellery tanzanite earrings to accept her award and the BVLGARI Diva’s Ring in pink gold and pink sapphire over her Dior mulberry chiffon gloves.

Yara Shahidi was another standout is Dior Haute Couture’s SS21 collection. Her embroidered top, tulle skirt with satin appliqué and gold gauze shirt – complete with Dior heels – stunned her 5.6 million followers on Instagram. Pulled by long-time stylist Jason Bolden, the 21-year-old Grownish actress and presenter added a thin, sky blue liner to her top lid and waterline before continuing the cool hue with a ribbon intertwined in her top knot.

The Crown star Gillian Anderson who was plagued with internet connection issues during her acceptance speech for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Margaret Thatcher, was also in Dior.

Anderson wore a tailored ensemble, cape jacket with wide satin cuir lapels and black pant from Dior’s Dior Haute Couture SS18. She also wore Dior Joaillerie, Bois de Rose earrings in white gold and diamonds, a Bois de Rose bracelet in white gold and diamonds and a Bois de Rose earring in white gold and diamonds.
