Kaia Gerber acting

Kaia Gerber may have dabbled in acting with cameos in American Horror Story and Mrs. American Pie, but the model is set to take on her biggest role yet alongside some Hollywood veterans.

Signing on for Shell, a film by Max Mingella, whom she just worked with in Damien Chazelle’s Babylon, Gerber will be starring alongside Kate Hudson and Elisabeth Moss.

The psychological thriller is set in the future “when humanity’s cultural obsession with youth and beauty has been taken to new extremes,” according to Deadline. Moss will play Samantha, a woman given a free trial at Shell, a pioneering health and beauty company promising eternal youth. After undergoing treatment, Samantha begins developing a friendship with the company’s CEO, Zoe, played by Hudson. When former Shell customers, including social media star Chloe — played by Gerber — start mysteriously going missing, Samantha realizes she may also be in danger.

Shell packs a wildly entertaining genre movie with iconic characters and universal themes that are bound to have people talking long after they leave the theatre,” said Minghella of the project. Moss, who has worked with Minghella for years on The Handmaid’s Tale, also shared her excitement about the film, writing, “This is one of the most unique, entertaining and special scripts I’ve ever read, and I am so honored to be a part of it as an actor and flattered that Max came to me with this character, who’s unlike anyone I’ve ever played before.”

Following in the footsteps of her supermodel mother, Cindy Crawford, who starred in the 1995 film Fair Game alongside Alec Baldwin, Gerber has steadily been building up her acting resume. Her partner, Austin Butler, who just won an Oscar for his role in Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis, is also sure to have some tips for the budding thespian.
