Just when you think Zendaya sporting a custom 1950s-inspired bubblegum pink dress for her Challengers press tour would be the biggest highlight of Simon Porte Jacquemus’ week, the French designer has shared the joyous news that he and his husband Marco Maestri have welcomed twins into the world.
Jacquemus doesn’t often deal with traditions. (His grandiose yet bucolic settings for his vibrant runway shows are apparent.) Yet, with the release of his first dedicated bridal collection preceding the birth of his two newborns, it’s clear he’s following the time-old love-themed nursery rhyme as closely as possible. First comes the lust-worthy nuptials suite of the century, then comes babies in a raffia carriage.
Jacquemus announced the arrival of his bundle of joys with an Instagram post three days after their birth. Though the creative director didn’t reveal the gender of his babies, he shared their super sweet names: Mia and Sun.
“Welcome to earth, our love. We love you so much. Our dream has come true with you,” the LVMH Prize finalist captioned the picture of their tiny hands and hospital bracelets. We didn’t need any more reasons to be more besotted with this dreamy family, the 34-year-old gave us an extra helping of the feels by signing his post “Papa Simon and Papa Marco”.
If Jacquemus’ runway shows or dreamy Provincial wedding is anything to go by, it’s already worth counting down the days until their first birthday. (You can mark your calendar for April 20, 2025, if you’re organised.) The couple’s blue-eyed, speckled brown hair dachshund, TouTou, wasn’t mentioned in the post, but it’s safe to assume he’s adjusting well to big brother life.
Naturally, this announcement drew well wishes from all corners of fashion’s globe. Victoria Beckham, who recently celebrated her 50th birthday, wrote, “Congratulations ❤️❤️ I’m so happy for you both!!!! So many kisses xxxx”. Supermodel and Jacquemus muse, Vittoria Ceretti, also shared her excitement for the couple, writing, “Congrats!! 🤍🤍🥺🥺 so happy for you”.
Given the calibre of celebrity friends, one could conclude that the twins’ godparents might be pulled from this roster. But more importantly, it officially makes Jacquemus’ grandmother Liline the chicest great-grandmother in the world! Now that’s worth celebrating. Félicitations, Simon!
