The internet has become a dark and nefarious place since its inception—but one thing we can still all agree on is the enduring pleasure that a picture of an adorable puppy provides. Simon Porte Jacquemus, the inimitable French designer behind the internet’s favourite fashion label, took to Instagram yesterday (where else?) to introduce the world to his blue-eyed dachshund, Toutou.

Toutou, naturally, caused quite the stir. The first two pictures Porte Jacquemus’ shared of his canine companion garnered a quarter of a million likes each off the Jacquemus Instagram account. Plus, Toutou launched his own account—@mynameistoutou—a hyper-curated feed with the bio: I Love Croquettes, Sunny Days and My Two Dads.

Toutou’s second dad is Marco Maestri, Porte Jacquemus’ long-term partner,  who is the founder and director of French digital agency Yoann and Marco. Per Vogue Paris, Maestri’s brother Yoann—a former rugby player—once served as a model for the Jacquemus menswear collections, and it was Yoann who suggested Marco and Simon meet for lunch in May 2018. The rest, as they say, is history.

Marco and Simon certainly aren’t the first high-profile couple to use quarantine as an excuse to expand their family. Kaia Gerber and Cara Delevingne used the lockdown to foster some extremely adorable rescue puppies, as did Billie Eilish—while Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra Jonas adopted a puppy called Panda. Not to play favourites, but we think Toutou may be our favourite yet.
