If you needed a reason to be excited for fall (other than the return of pumpkin spice lattes), then model Gigi Hadid‘s has some good news for you. Last week, the 22-year-old shared some behind-the-scenes photos of a new project she’s been working on to her 75.2 million Instagram followers, and introduced her new collection of knitwear called Guest in Residence.
She captioned the post simply, “Been workin on something….with love, @guestinresidence :),” and made it official by updating her Instagram bio to include “founder, creative director @guestinresidence.” Naturally, fans went into a frenzy and started predicting what’s to come from the new Hadid-backed line. One commented, “I can’t wait for fall, I need this now,” while another wrote, “The Mayor of Snuggletown.”
Family and close friends also took to the comments expressing their congratulations on Hadid’s newest venture. Sister Bella Hadid commented, “what we’ve all been waiting for,” followed by several hearts, while Gigi and Bella’s mom, Yolanda Hadid, mentioned, “So exciting love you and am so proud of you my love!” Gigi’s close friend Alana O’Herlihy cheekily dropped a link to Beyoncé’s new song, Cozy, from her latest hit album.
This isn’t Hadid’s first stint into the world of design. Earlier this year she teamed up with founder and creative director of the L.A.-based swimwear label Frankies Bikinis, Francesca Aiello for a two-drop limited-edition capsule collection. The Gigi x Frankies Bikinis collection was quintessentially Hadid, rooted in her signature California cool girl roots.
Although details on her new knitwear line remained minimal, further into the carrousel post, Hadid showed off a few pieces we hope go on sale whenever the collection launches to the public. She showed off some matching knit sets and colorful jumpers. Also featured in the post was close family friend Gabriella Karefa-Johnson helping Gigi get fitted in front of a mirror. Karefa-Johnson is known for styling both Gigi and Bella for many of their editorials and magazine covers, so we can only assume she’ll be stepping in to bring the collection to life in a glorious campaign. Only time will tell.
