With the rise of aesthetic trends like Cabincore and Cottagecore, Gigi Hadid’s quintessentially Americana Gigi x Frankies Bikinis collection hits the nail on the head, returning to the supermodel’s signature California girl roots.
Hadid teamed up with founder and creative director of the LA-based swimwear label Frankies Bikinis, Francesca Aiello for the limited-edition capsule collection — and it was super easy, as they’ve have been friends since childhood. With Aiello having founded the brand at just 17 years old in 2012, Frankies Bikinis is now a fan-favorite of A-listers from Hailey Bieber to Kylie Jenner, Jennifer Lopez and more.
“This means so much to me,” Gigi shared in an emotional Instagram reel. “It was done with friends and heart, and it’s just a really special full-circle moment for me and Frank, who have known each other since before we ever thought dreams like this could come true.”
Set amid a rural area, conjuring the essence of an ethereal forest-nymph, Hadid and Aiello pose alongside one another in dreamy, soft pastels, inducing a nostalgic, down-to-earth spirit of playful, unbridled youth.
“Gigi is someone that is so special and so inspiring to me,” said the Frankies Bikinis founder in an official statement. “She is creative, hard-working, kind, and loving, and combining those incredible personality traits with our deep-rooted friendship is what really made this collection not only fun to create together but also to shoot together.”
Photographed by yet another childhood friend, Alana O’Herlihy, the campaign evokes a natural, sun-kissed glow. The apparel features dainty ruffles and bows, whimsical fabrications from pointelle and toile, to eyelet and terry cloth, finding their way throughout the entire collection.
Described by the brand to be an “homage to Gigi’s care-free and simple days spent at her family’s countryside home,” the collection even includes children’s pieces, collaboratively designed by the mother-of-one. In the main collection, there’s a mother and baby deer within one of the prints as a sweet homage to Hadid’s 1-year-old daughter Khai, with whom she shares with ex Zayn Malik.
Consisting of both swimwear and loungewear, the 98-piece collection comes at the perfect time, as the warm weather is just around the corner. With select styles available in sizes from XS to XXL, the pieces range from $45 to $185. The collection drops on Frankiesbikinis.com on May 11, and another collaboration will be released on June 2.
