The new full-length trailer of the highly anticipated series, Daisy Jones & the Six, just dropped — and excitement for the Amazon Prime Video show is as palpable as ever. Craving more already? Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming limited-series.

WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

The show is based on Taylor Jenkins Reid’s 2019 best-selling novel of the same name and will follow the rise to fame and subsequent fall of a 1977 fictional rock band, Daisy Jones & The Six. The highly anticipated adaptation will detail the romance and love triangle between lead singers, Daisy Jones and Billy Dunne, and Billy’s wife Camila. After the unexpected breakup of the band during their peak of fame and success, the series jumps forward through time, 20 years later to reveal what happened between them.

WHO WILL STAR IN DAISY JONES & THE SIX?

A star-studded lineup includes rock royalty, Riley Keough (Elvis Presley’s granddaughter and daughter of the late Lisa Marie) as leading lady, Daisy Jones. The Hunger Games alum Sam Claflin will portray band member Billy Dunne while Camila Morrone will take on the role as Billy’s wife, Camila Dunne who is also the best friend of Billy’s bandmate, keyboardist Karen Sirko, played by Suki Waterhouse. Will Harrison will star as lead guitarist Graham Dunne, Josh Whitehouse will play bassist Eddie Roundtree and Sebastian Chacon will portray drummer Warren Rhodes.

Band manager Rod Reyes will be played by Deadwood’s Timothy Olyphant, while actress and musician Nabiyah Be will portray Daisy’s best friend Simone Jackson, and Tom Wright will play record producer Teddy Price.

The cast all learned how to sing and play their respective instruments for the most authentic performances. Atlantic Records will release the show’s soundtrack, filled with original music. The first single, “Regret Me” is genuinely performed by the cast. In speaking with Vanity Fair, Keough expressed her anxiety in learning to sing for the role.

“I was like, I can’t do it, and when I can’t do something it lights a fire in me to be able to do it,” said Keough. “I was like, I have to do it. I’m gonna go to this vocal coach, and he’s gonna teach me how to f***ing belt, whatever I need to do to get this. It really became about pushing myself to do things I’ve never done before.”

Claflin told the publication, “I have to say, I’d never picked up a guitar before I got this part. And, you know, having read the book, it wasn’t overly clear that I was due to be playing because we took some creative freedom and slightly shifted the parts a little bit, meaning that I was going to be playing not lead guitar, thank God, but rhythm guitar. I had to learn how to hold the guitar, how to strum a guitar. I had the biggest journey to go with the singing as well.”

IS IT BASED ON A TRUE STORY?

Daisy Jones & the Six is not a real band, however Reid took inspiration from the 1997 Fleetwood Mac reunion show “The Dance,” according to the author via a blog post for the production company Hello Sunshine. Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham’s relationship informed the romantic tension between Daisy (Keough) and Billy (Claflin.)

WHO IS BEHIND THE SERIES?

Daisy Jones & the Six has been produced by Reese Witherspoon’s production company Hello Sunshine with executive producer Lauren Levy Neustadter. Scott Neustadter (known for The Fault in Our Stars and (500) Days of Summer) and Michael H. Weber have adapted the book for the show.

IS THERE A TRAILER?

Amazon Prime Video released the series’ first official teaser for the show in January and the full-length trailer just dropped on Feb. 15. The trailer depicts a love triangle between Daisy, Billy, and Camila and the band’s rise to fame.

WHEN WILL DAISY JONES & THE SIX BE RELEASED?
