As Dua Lipa gears up for her Future Nostalgia tour finally taking place February 9th in Miami, 2022 also marks the launch of Lipa’s newsletter Service95 and its accompanying podcast At Your Service. With her film debut taking place this year with Matthew Vaughn’s upcoming spy-flick Argylle, Lipa will star alongside critically acclaimed actors Samuel L. Jackson, Sam Rockwell, and Bryan Cranston. The pop star is also well into the creation of her next album- constantly evolving and intuitively making major career moves, Dua Lipa seems to be invincible.

The singer-songwriter was busy frenetically rising to pop stardom when the whole world shutdown in early 2020. With the onslaught of the global pandemic and music from her second album having been unfortunately leaked, Lipa was met with a tough decision to make. Would she delay the release of Future Nostalgia, like so many other artists given the circumstances, or would she stay on the scheduled path? Choosing neither of those options, Lipa released her sophomore record one week early, catapulting her to unimaginable fame. Following her intuition, Dua Lipa quickly became one of the most pervasive standout stars amid an international lockdown, defying all odds.

The singer told The Wall Street Journal’s Alan Light, “So when the pandemic happened, and everyone was worried about whether we should release the album, I was just like F**k it, maybe it’s just what we need. While everyone’s at home, maybe this is the album we should be putting out. It was scary, because you had no idea how long we were going to be in this pandemic. Everything was a big question mark. But I had a sense that we just had to do it.”

In speaking with WSJ, the Grammy-winning artist reveals that there was not much of a plan during lockdown, but to simply work hard to keep her name and her music relevant. After the album was nominated for the ‘Album of the Year’ Grammy, came in second place as 2021’s most-streamed album on Spotify, and had the single ‘Levitating’ become Billboard’s number one song of the year, the album was ultimately deemed a great success.

With accolades pouring in from some of the most venerable creatives living today, the most prolific stars have sung Lipa’s praises, from Donatella Versace to musical legend Sir Elton John. Having collaborated with the two on varying projects, the two had nothing but positive words for the accomplished 26-year-old.

In reminiscing about her Versace runway appearance, Lipa told WSJ, “Times have changed so much that you see beautiful models of all sizes, of all races, of different genders,” she says. “It’s amazing to have that now be the beauty spectrum when it was so limited before. Fashion is evolving so quickly; people are really being accountable and taking a stand for things they believe in. And I love that I was a part of it now, in this time of change.”

With her image suddenly spread across the media landscape, the immense amount of fame comes hand in hand with scrutiny and speculation. As many continue to question her continued relationship status with model Anwar Hadid, Lipa maintains her right to privacy, refusing to comment on the rumored breakup.

Fully focused on work and keeping her private life private, Lipa will give us a highly curated inside look on where to go, what to eat, what to wear, and what to read with her highly anticipated Service95, making its debut on February 3rd. Fully equipped with an accompanying podcast At Your Service, the first season will consist of 12 episodes, hosted by Lipa as she interviews varying creatives, media personalities, activists, and more.

With her tour, her newsletter and podcast, her forthcoming film debut, and a whole new album coming our way, it’s safe to say the meteoric rise of Dua Lipa is not bound to fizzle out, but to skyrocket eternally.
