The 26-year-old has become the poster girl for Y2K fashion sporting early aught looks like low-rise jeans, denim on denim, and oh how could we forget her butterfly top moment. With basically almost every Y2K fashion trend under her belt, it looks like Dua Lipa is moving on to making a case for 2000’s hair trends.
In her latest St. Barts vacation photo dump saga, the “Physical” singer took to Instagram to share a series of photos and videos of her in a matching hot pink bathing suit set, only this time it wasn’t Dua’s outfit that caught our attention —but her hair. Just after debuting her new and dramatic hair chop, the singer showed off her partially bleached hair stamped with colorful hearts while basking in the sun. Dua rocks the 2000’s hair oh-so well, and honestly, we’re going to need a tutorial ASAP.
Dua Lipa captioned the photo “RISE n SHINE” with a bunny, tornado, and heart emoji following. Perhaps a wake-up call to let us know Y2K hair trends are back again. Don’t expect these trends to come back exactly how you remember them, though(probably for the best). Just as early aughts fashion got an update merging past trends with current trends —you can expect beauty trends to follow suit. I.e., no super-thin eyebrows with raccoon tails or crimped hair. Who knows what else she’ll do in 2022. Could space buns next?
