Dua Lipa in Chopova Lowena

This year Dua Lipa undoubtedly made a name for herself as a style icon on and off the red carpet (with help from her stylist Lorenzo Posocco). A poster girl for the Y2K revival, the 26-year-old doesn’t shy away from taking a chance at a risky outfit ensemble — and more times than not, they end up working so well that we all want to get in on the look. See: Dua in the popcorn top trend.

Over the weekend, the “Physical” singer took to Instagram to share a series of blurred outfit photos while out and about in London. Dua’s outfit looks like she pulled inspiration straight from Cher from the antsy teen movie “Clueless” but gave it her signature flirty, fun Gen Z twist. At first glance, the ensemble looks like a patchwork top and skirt set, but with closer inspection, it’s actually an unconventional tartan patchwork mini dress from the British-Bulgarian label Chopova Lowena. The mixed print dress doesn’t lack any details with exaggerated puffed sleeves and metal clips fastening the top and bottom half by a leather belt.

Accessories included pearly drop earrings, a statement-making silver necklace, a micro Prada bag, and various mixed metal rings. Topping off the look (and keeping in mind the chilly weather), she completes the look with black tights and knee-high boots. She captioned the carousel “wine not,” very fitting considering the several wine bottles around. Other photos in the series included Lipa posing in front of a red phonebooth (tourist chic) and cuddling up with friends, including Sarah Lysander and K-Pop idol CL.

Besides velvet and sequin, tartan is one of the only other materials that feel very on point for the holiday season. Although unconventional tartan, Dua’s minidress is fun and feels right for now. If you’re feeling inspired by the look for you’re upcoming gatherings, you’re in luck —  Dua’s exact mix pattern tartan dress is still available, as well as in just a skirt version if the mixed patterns are a little too eccentric for your taste.
