A fashion friendship for the ages, pop star Britney Spears and Italian designer Donatella Versace have been buddies throughout both of their legendary careers. Versace has also remained staunch in her support for the performer throughout the dissolution of Spears’ 13-year-long conservatorship. So, who better than Donatella to dress Spears for her wedding day?

Spears and fiancé Sam Asghari officially tied the knot on Thursday at their home in Los Angeles with an intimate ceremony, marking a new chapter in the pop star’s life. She walked down the aisle in a custom Versace ivory creation featuring a curve-hugging silhouette, off-the-shoulder neckline, thigh-high slit, satin-trimmed cascading veil and choker necklace. Asghari’s black tux was also by Versace.

Adorning 62 carats of diamonds exclusively from Stephanie Gottlieb, Spears wore teardrop earrings, a heart-shaped diamond necklace, and an oval diamond tennis bracelet. Spears’ hair was styled in loose waves and her glam was courtesy Charlotte Tilbury. According to the brand, they wanted to go for “a timeless, universally-flattering, rose petal pink bridal look” and Charlotte’s niece, celebrity makeup artist Sofia Tilbury, brought Charlotte and Britney’s vision to life with Charlotte’s iconic Magic Cream and Pillow Talk Party collection.

According to Vogue, the bride changed into three more looks after the ceremony: a little black minidress was followed by a two-toned ensemble, and then a red mini dress, all from Versace.

Donatella shared a snap of herself at the event in her wedding guest look on Instagram writing, “The wedding of the CENTURY! Such a magical day ✨♥️ CONGRATULATIONS @britneyspears @samasghari 🤍”

In March, Spears shared some snapshots of the designer posing alongside herself and Asghari in their home, captioning the post, “Look who came to visit.” We can’t help but think some fittings and sketching took place!

After getting engaged in September 2021, Spears told fans that Versace would design her look for the big day. “Donatella Versace is making my dress as we speak,” Spears wrote on Instagram in November.

Showing support for the beloved singer throughout her controversial conservatorship battle, Versace wrote on social media in November 2021, “Freedom is a human right. My heart is smiling for you, Britney. Congratulations on your regained and deserved emancipation. I love you, your fierce fans love you and the world NEEDS your brilliance. Happy Britneypendence day! #FreeBritney.”

Spears has rocked many iconic Versace styles over the years. One iconic look was at the house’s Spring/Summer 2003 runway show when Spears wore an intricately embroidered multicolor asymmetrical dress.

Last May, Versace shared a throwback snap from the runway presentation, writing, “This flashback is from when she came to my show in 2002, looking glamorous in Versace✨ I’ll never forget when you came and stayed with me Britney, you were and will always be magical!!!!”

Another memorable moment was when the “… Baby One More Time” singer opted for not one, but two Versace party dresses at the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards, where she took home three the win for Best Video, Best Pop Video and Best Female Video for “Piece of Me.”

While the pop legend enjoys happiness in her marriage and newfound freedom, Spears’ Versace bridal gown represents a fairytale happy ending.
