Welcome to New York! Taylor Swift made her first public appearance following the news that she split from her boyfriend of six years, Joe Alwyn. The Grammy-winner was seen out in New York City with her longtime friend and collaborator, producer Jack Antonoff and his fiancée, actress Margaret Qualley, who starred in the 2022 film Stars at Noon with Alwyn.

The “Anti-Hero” singer was photographed leaving the popular Italian restaurant Via Carota, which eagle-eyed fans have noted is just minutes away from Cornelia Street — the title of a song believed to be about Alwyn from her 2019 album Lover.

Swift wore an off-the-shoulder black top with AREA high-rise blue jeans featuring a crystal-embellished butterfly cutout on the thigh and black patent leather Mary Jane slingback heels by Sam Edelman, while carrying a Paco Rabanne Moon 1969 shoulder bag. More Swifties noted that the crystal butterfly may be a nod to her song “Bejeweled” from Midnights, which is about shining after the end of a relationship.

The songstress, who is currently on her Eras Tour, styled her golden blonde locks down and straightened with blunt bangs. Swift went with her beauty signatures for the occasion, opting for black eyeliner and a bold crimson red lip.

Over the weekend,  Entertainment Tonight reported Swift and Alwyn called it quits a few weeks ago, in what was allegedly an amicable split. According to a source, the relationship “had just run its course,” and was “not dramatic.”

Swift, 33, and Alwyn, 32, began dating in 2016, and though they’ve managed to keep much of their relationship private, it’s been thought that the two were still going strong until fans began to worry Alwyn hadn’t been there to support Swift on her world tour.

Looking for clues, fans believed Swift dropped a hint about the breakup at her March 31 concert. Swift performed in Arlington, Texas and replaced the romantic song “Invisible String” with the breakup song, “The 1.” It includes the lyrics, “But we were something don’t you think so?” and “If my wishes came true, it would have been you.”
