When Taylor Hill took to TikTok to unveil her bold hair transformation, we knew the supermodel would deliver on the drama. However, the supermodel’s theatrics didn’t just pertain to the way she revealed her super-cropped, face-framing bob.
For the uninitiated, Hill took to TikTok to document her stirring haircut journey, accompanying the video the bridge of Taylor Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do”. “The old Taylor can’t come to the phone right now. Why? Because she’s dead!”
In Hill’s case, not quite diseased, but rather in the chair of New York-based hairstylist and groomer Takuya Yamaguchi.
As the model herself has revealed, the shaggy face-framing take on a 90s pixie cut actually had another layer of dramatic flair to it as she was inspired by legendary screen star, Audrey Hepburn, to take the chop.
Though Hepburn’s beatnik style and gamine crop have been hailed as the epitome of 60s chic, Hill has infused the mid-century style with slightly grungy undertones thanks to the tousled effect of Hill’s natural curls.
As Sydney-based hairdresser Nina Lee, of Extra Silky, told us of the perennial appeal of the bob, Hill’s version “plays with texture and pairs the bob with a soft bang or curtain fringe.”
Though Hill joins the likes of Hailey Bieber, Kourtney Kardashian, Zendaya, fellow Victoria’s Secret alumni Elsa Hosk, the newly-wed offers a different take on the signature cut. Lee revealed the secret to Hill’s cut comes in the shaping and styling of her locks.
“Blow dry your fringe if you have one or blow dry your roots with a volumising product to get lots of root lift so it looks fun and styled!”
“Styling the hair in front of your ears in a curl away from the face always looks super complimentary and opens up the face to show off the jawline which looks great on everyone,” she revealed. “Working with your natural texture is always worthwhile,” she added.
Of course, when it comes to bridal glow-ups, we believe that Hill may have just raised the bar for what can be considered as a ‘new last name, new me’ look.
