Red lip, classic—Taylor Swift has officially exited her navy “Midnights” era and entered her pastel blue “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” era, using the wedding of her long-term producer Jack Antonoff and actress Margaret Qualley as the springboard to launch her new style reign.

As staunch fans of Swift are aware, the 33-year-old’s clothing and makeup choices reflect the creative period she’s in, and given the impending release of the re-recorded 2014 award-winning album it’s safe to say she’s leaning into the blue hue. Even if the particular event is a “white veil occasion,” as Swift sings in “Speak Now”.

For the star-studded nuptials, Swift shed her preppy aesthetic for something more romantic—a reference to the 1989 song “New Romantics” or just an apt silhouette for the tender service? Given Swift’s cryptic nature, we wouldn’t put it past her to use this highly publicised moment to scatter some Easter eggs.

Stepping out at Parker’s Garage & Oyster Saloon in New Jersey, the location of Antonoff & Qualley’s wedding ceremony, Swift wore an asymmetrical hem lace dress from British fashion designer Erdem. (See the pictures for yourself, here).

Editors note: The dress is currently on sale at NET-A-PORTER, should any of Swift’s adherents be interested in sharing a piece of clothing with their idol.

The dress, which debuted on Erdem’s Spring ’23 runway during London Fashion Week, features a boned corset-style bodice, a tonal satin sash separating the skirt from the midsection and a cascading ruffle hem, all made from delicate recycled lace. On Swift’s feet were a pair of crystal embellished Gucci sandals, with a Cartier Agrafe herringbone rope necklace in yellow gold accenting her neckline.

Of course, with Swift the unequivocal master of hidden references, it’s clear she took inspiration from her discography when it came to the ensemble. “Bejeweled”, “Style”, “Enchanted” and “Love Story” were most likely the phrases (or singles) on the mood board she provided her stylist with when it came to the theme of her wedding guest dress.

Earlier in the wedding weekend, Swift’s fans shut down the newlywed’s rehearsal dinner at the 3.5 stars rated (as pointed out by Variety) Black Whale restaurant in Beach Haven. Swifties flocked to the street to catch a glimpse of the signer, inadvertently shutting down a major intersection by doing so and causing havoc on the streets.

Also in attendance at the wedding was Qualley’s mother, ‘Brat Pack’ actress Andie Macdowell, Qualley’s model and musician sister, Rainey Qualley, along with Lana Del Rey, Cara Delevingne, Zoë Kravitz and Channing Tatum.

Swift is currently on hiatus from her Eras Tour after concluding the U.S leg in early August, meaning more “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” sartorial references are incoming.
