After news emerged that Kourtney Kardashian had been rushed to hospital in Los Angeles, the Lemme founder has taken to social media to share an update on her current condition.
It was reported earlier in the week that The Kardashians reality star had been temporarily hospitalised, with her Blink-182 drummer husband, Travis Barker, cancelling a string of the band’s European shows to rush home due to the “urgent family matter”.
Now, Kardashian has candidly opened up about the ordeal, explaining that she underwent “urgent fetal surgery”. A procedure she claims saved her baby boy’s life.
The post featured a black-and-white photo of Kardashian in a hospital bed. Taken from Baker’s point of view, Kardashian and Barker can be seen holding hands, with the soon-to-be mother of four injected with a cannula.
In her accompanying caption, the 44-year-old shared messages of gratitude to the doctors, hospital staff, her husband and her mother for ensuring the life of her unborn son.
“I will be forever grateful to my incredible doctors for saving our baby’s life,” Kardashian wrote in her post. “I am eternally grateful to my husband who rushed to my side from tour to be with me in the hospital and take care of me afterwards, my rock,” she continued. “And to my mom, thank you for holding my hand through this,” she added in reference to the Kardashian-Jenner’s matriarch, Kris Jenner.
Kardashian also included details of the surgery in her post, lamenting that the uncertainty towards her baby’s future has made her empathise with other women who have suffered difficult pregnancies or miscarriages.
Her caption read: “As someone who has had three really easy pregnancies in the past, I wasn’t prepared for the fear of rushing into urgent fetal surgery. I don’t think anyone who hasn’t been through a similar situation can begin to understand that feeling of fear. I have a whole new understanding and respect for the mamas who have had to fight for their babies while pregnant.”
Kardashian references her previous pregnancies with her three children, Mason, 12, Penelope, 9 and Reign, 7, whom she shares with Scott Disick.
Though those gestations were well documented on Keeping Up With The Kardashians, it’s not clear whether the Kardashian-Baker household will allow cameras into their newborn’s life, especially given this recent scare.
Kardashian concluded her post by confirming she was still carrying her son. “Walking out of the hospital with my baby boy in my tummy and safe was the truest blessing. 🙏🏼🤍,” she wrote.
It’s not clear how far along Kardashian is in her pregnancy. The star proclaimed the news at a Blink 182 show in Los Angeles, serving as the template for all future ‘rockstar girlfriend’ announcements.
