Sydney Sweeney has starred in some of the buzziest shows on TV, including The Handmaids Tale, Sharp Objects, The White Lotus, and Euphoria. In the wake of the latter’s sophomore season, she’s been catapulted to another level of fame. She’s not just on our screens anymore — she’s been racking up impressive ad campaigns with prestigious beauty and fashion brands.
Within the past few months, she’s partnered with beauty brands like Laneige and Jergens, was named a Tory Burch ambassador, modeled for jeweler David Yurman and just landed her most recent campaign for Miu Miu.
The actress’ new Miu Miu ads (modeling the brand’s Miu Wander bag) released Thursday and were photographed by Tyrone Lebon. Sweeney told i-D in a new interview there was a “mysterious girl-next-door, tomboy-ish spirit” to the campaign. “I really wanted to put a bit of a rebellious twist on what a luxury handbag campaign usually represents — for there to be this idea of a youthful girl-next-door, but you’re not quite sure what she’s gonna do next. She’s someone who’s wandering around for her freedom — getting ready to go nowhere and everywhere at the same time.”
While she said she “always hoped” she’d be a Miu Miu girl one day, she’s also a Tory Burch darling, after becoming a brand ambassador for handbags and shoes in April.
“Sydney is one of the most talented and relevant young actors working today, but I am equally inspired by her curiosity and confidence,” Burch said in an official release. “She is unapologetic and empowered in her approach to acting and business. I am thrilled to start working together.”
The duo kicked off the partnership with a bang, by attending the 2022 Met Gala together (it was Sweeney’s first time at the soirée) wearing coordinating voluminous ball gowns by Tory Burch. Sweeney wore an ivory strapless gown with a detachable skirt that transformed into a mini dress on the carpet.
“I’m so excited to partner with Tory Burch as her brand ambassador,” Sweeney said in the release. “I’ve been a fan of her clothing and accessories for years, and I admire her tireless work to support women. I’m inspired not only by Tory’s vision and the business she has built, but also by her kindness and philanthropy. I am so looking forward to the beautiful partnership and meaningful conversations to come.”
As if she wasn’t busy enough, Sweeney brought her star power to another buzzy campaign. Last week she teamed with luxury jeweler David Yurman, modeling the Cable Edge collection along with brand ambassador duo Scarlett Johansson and Henry Golding.
Fittingly, she’s been dripping in David Yurman gems and wearing custom Miu Miu looks to some major high-profile events. (She wore both to the Oscars afterparty, below right.)
She also opted for Miu Miu at the Euphoria’s season two premiere (below left) and the Independent Spirit Awards (middle).
The actress’ chic and fashion-forward persona makes her the prime candidate to front endless fashion campaigns, and considering she’s starring in the upcoming Marvel film Madame Web and in Tony Tost’s directorial debut National Anthem, we have a feeling there are many more fashion partnerships to come.
