Rickey Thompson and Doja Cat

Not only does Rickey Thompson know how to provide a good laugh (as evident in his 3 million TikTok followers and 5.5 million on Instagram), but the 26-year-old actor, comedian and internet personality also always delivers some serious style moments time and time again. Thompson has made a name for himself in the fashion industry and has worked with American heritage brand Coach as a global ambassador for the past few years. He joined other members of the Coach family including Jennifer Lopez, Michael B. Jordan, Paloma Elsesser, Barbie Ferreira, and now Lil Nas X, who made his debut on the show’s runway.

The content creator has let his vibrant personality shine, whether posing for the label’s coveted campaigns or hosting the QVC-style “Coach Forever” segment for Coach TV. Being 100% authentically himself is something he attributes to his success. Whether he was creating Vines (before the app shuttered in 2017), making TikToks or recording his hilarious podcast, “We Said What We Said” with longtime bestie Denzel Dion, being himself is always his main goal.

Below, we caught up with Thompson backstage of the Coach Spring-Summer 2023 show to chat about the new collection, what American fashion means to him and if a potential talk show is in the works.

GRAZIA USA: What did you think of the show?
Rickey Thompson: Oh my gosh. I thought the show was amazing. So artsy, so different, and so fun. I loved it.

G:  How would you describe your personal style?
RT: Oh, I would say my personal style is very edgy, yet fun, but also with a little vintage twist to it.

G:  What’s been your favorite moment working with Coach over the past couple years?

RT: Oh my goodness, my favorite moment. Let me think, I’ve had so many amazing favorite moments over the past couple of years. I feel like my favorite moment was the Christmas campaign I did. It was the first time I really got to show off my acting skills. It was really fun. Global, worldwide, everything.

G:  So speaking of acting, you are a natural hosting Coach TV. Do we see a TV show in the future for you?
RT: Oh my gosh, yes. Fingers crossed. It will be happening, the next Oprah, babe!

G:  So what is an item that you can’t leave the house without during Fashion Week?
RT: I would say my Chapstick, honestly. You got to keep it moisturized.

G:  What does American fashion mean to you?
RT: That’s a really good question right there, girl. Oh, my goodness. American fashion is fun. I looked to it a lot growing up and now, finally, being a part of it feels incredible.
