If you didn’t stay up last night, then you probably missed the news (and no, it’s not a collaboration with Crocs): Nicki Minaj announced on Instagram live that Beam Me Up Scotty is finally on all listening platforms. Beam Me Up Scotty is the third mixtape by Trinidadian-American rapper Nicki Minaj. It was originally released on April 18, 2009, by Trapaholics Records and hosted by DJ Holiday. But this time around we’re getting three extra songs to the already banger-filled tracklist. All week the Grammy-nominated artist hinted at a special surprise for her fans and ,with this being the 12th anniversary of the mixtape, it was only right that Barbz can finally blast “Itty Bitty Piggy” on Spotify and Apple Music. On Thursday night, May 13, fans jokingly shared on social media, both their excitement and concern for Nicki’s arrival since her Instagram live didn’t promptly start at 11 p.m., but all was forgiven once she announced that new music would be coming soon. “I knew if I just re-released the mixtape without putting anything new, I knew y’all would cuss me the f*ck out,” Minaj said on the live.

The mixtape’s new songs include “Fractions,” a “Crocodile Teeth” remix with Skillibeng, and a return to the Young Money team “Seeing Green,” which features Lil Wayne and Drake. “It didn’t feel right with you not being on it,” Drake said in regard to teaming up again for “Seeing Green.” “It was fun the other way but it’s epic this way,” Drake said. Champagne Papi joined the Instagram live, which made for an even more nostalgic night. Nicki even praised the 34-year-old rapper for being the reason she finally started writing again. She claims during the last few months she experienced writer’s block and was struggling to produce anything while in “mommy mode.”

Nicki even noted that her son, lovingly known as “papa bear,” said his first word, “mama.” Fans in the comments begged to learn her son’s real name, but Nicki says she is still a little too protective to start sharing more about her son just yet. The Beam Me Up Scotty release announcement enlivened Twitter users, some even hoping to finally give Nicki that Number One Billboard chart spot. Moreover, Nicki let fans know during the Instagram live that “this [release] ain’t no TikTok stuff. This is just to get back to the basics on why I started rapping, I love punchlines.” She also lets viewers know that she’s working on an album that we will hopefully hear very soon. And with over 600,000 people tuned in, there’s no question on whether or not Nicki Minaj was missed.
