Reality television royalty Kim Kardashian signed on to join the new season of Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk’s killer FX anthology series American Horror Story — in a role written specifically for her. Along with Kardashian, beloved AHS alum and longtime Murphy collaborator Emma Roberts will make a return to the series.
The SKIMS founder posted an eerie teaser to her Instagram on Monday. “Emma Roberts and Kim Kardashian are delicate” was written across the screen as a creepy rendition of “Rock-a-Bye Baby” played in the background before a voice whispered, “Emma and Kim are delicate.” Kardashian simply captioned the clip, “👀🩸.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter, season 12 will be the first to ever be written and showrun by a single writer, Halley Feiffer.
“Kim is among the biggest and brightest television stars in the world and we are thrilled to welcome her to the AHS family, co-creator Murphy told the outlet. “Emma and I are excited about collaborating with this true force in the culture. Halley Feiffer has written a fun, stylish and ultimately terrifying role especially for Kim, and this season is ambitious and unlike anything we’ve ever done.” According to the publication, Murphy was impressed by Kardashian’s 2021 hosting appearance on Saturday Night Live.
Entitled Delicate, the new season will be loosely based on Danielle Valentine’s upcoming novel Delicate Condition, set to be released in August – a first for the show, which was always boasted original material. The book has been described as “a gripping thriller that follows a woman convinced a sinister figure is going to great lengths to make sure her pregnancy never happens – while the men in her life refuse to believe a word she says.” The story has been compared as “The Push meets The Silent Patient” and fellow author Andrea Bartz has described the tale as a “feminist update to Rosemary’s Baby.”
Kardashian joins a heavy-weight roster of A-listers who have appeared on the show, including Lady Gaga, Kaia Gerber, Naomi Campbell, Kathy Bates, Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters.
Roberts joined the AHS universe in 2013 during the show’s third season Coven. She later appeared in Freak Show, Cult, Apocalypse and 1984. Her return will mark her first appearance on the show since 2019.
The project is scheduled to begin production in New York City later this month.
