Over the years Sarah Paulson has basically become synonymous with the American Horror Story franchise. We first saw her play a psychic medium in season one and has remained present in the AHS franchise for the past nine out of ten seasons. But could her time on the show be making its final run? Paulson appeared as a guest on Watch What Happens Live, and she revealed that she’s “probably” done with her tenure in Ryan Murphy’s horror stories.

“I think this is my last season of Horror Story, probably,” Paulson said to host, Andy Cohen. “I mean, I don’t know. Ever time he comes to me with some whack-a-doodle character, I tend to be like, ‘Yes, let’s do it!’ So we’ll see.”

This isn’t the first time Paulson has expressed doubt in her American Horror Story career. Months back, she said that the only reason she appeared on season six, “Roanoke,” was due to a “responsibility and contractual obligation.” She admitted to feeling “underwhelmed” and trapped within the character she played that season.

“I was so underwhelmed by the whole experience,” Paulson said at the time. “I felt really kind of trapped by my responsibility and my contractual obligation to do American Horror Story. As much as it’s my home and I’ve loved it always, it was the first time I felt like I wish I could have gone to Ryan [Murphy] and said ‘Please let me sit this one out, let me out.'”

This isn’t the first time we’ve lost a keystone player in the American Horror Story universe. Jessica Lange left the cast in January 2013, and the show arguably hasn’t been the same since. So let us see how it works out with Sarah Paulson.
