Karlie Kloss arrived to the 2023 Met Gala with an unexpected plus-one. Of course, she attended the grand affair with her husband, Jared Kushner, but the model also revealed her pregnancy on the red carpet.
The model adorned a bespoke Loewe gown by creative director Jonathan Anderson. Inspired by tonight’s theme “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty,” the designer reimagined a dress from Lagerfeld’s Spring/Summer 1983 collection for Parisian fashion house Chanel, blended with style notes from Loewe’s latest Fall/Winter 2023 collection.
Kloss’ long-sleeve floor-length black velvet satin gown featured a printed blurred outline of a string of pearls around the neckline and the waist, with a puddle train. Styled by Karla Welch, Kloss adorned layered pearl necklaces as well and a draped, layered pearl belt, both featuring the house’s signature Anagram motif. She brought even more bling thanks to her ring and earrings by Garrard.
The model pulled her brunette strands back into a low ponytail with a black bow and a middle-part. Kloss maintained a luminescent complexion with mile-long lashes and a mauve lip.
The major part of her look though was her bourgeoning baby bump! Kloss revealed that she’s pregnant with her second child — and this marks the first red carpet she walked while pregnant. Kloss explained that she had little need for formal dress during her first pregnancy, which was during the pandemic.
Kloss married Kushner in 2018 and the couple welcomed their first child, their son Levi in March 2021.
