Last night, as fans burned the midnight oil following Kanye West’s second public listening party, it became unsurprisingly clear that the rapper was delaying the release of the long-awaited project. When the clock struck twelve, West’s fanbase was left unamused, replaying footage from Thursday listening party to hear the newly revised project.

Of course, these antics are not uncharacteristic for the artist’s winding track record. Originally titled God’s Country, the project was slated for release in July 2020. A year and a covert listening party later, West unexpectedly announced the album’s supposed release in a Beats By Dre ad that featured track phenom Sha’Carri Richardson  and a record from the album, “No Child Left Behind.” When he hosted his debut listening party, a day before the anticipated premiere, Ye’ opted to push back his project calendar to amend the project further.

With his Thursday album affair also not prompting the release of Donda, all we have left are vivid memories of the show — which included the artist’s “rapture” into the heavens and the attendance of Kim Kardashian. Vastly contrasting his rather stationary one-man performance in late July, Ye’ welcomed his infamous Sunday Service choir, the performance art direction of Demna Gvasalia and the needed theatrics for the second-go-round.

Once again, Kim Kardashian appeared in the audience (might we add, in a matching outfit). This time, it seems like West seized the moment to offer reconciliation to his estranged wife. “I’m losing all my family/Darling come back to me,” he reportedly rapped as he knelt. In another song that delivers an intimate glimpse into the *hopefully* forthcoming thematic era, he exclaimed, “Time and space is a luxury/But you came here to show that you’re still in love with me.”

As of late, all fans have left to grapple with is yet another unfulfilled promise. However, in a glimpse of assuaging news, Tidal has announced the full list of features for Donda and Jay Z and West’s recent reunion may bring forth a follow-up album to their infamous Watch The Throne project. In a tweet on Thursday night, social media personality Justin Laboy announced the news, writing, “Watch The Throne 2 coming end of the year. Kanye & Hov about to make history AGAIN.”
