On Thursday night at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, rapper-songwriter Kanye West, 44, received a standing ovation and was extremely emotional after debuting his highly anticipated tenth studio album Donda. But emotions ran even higher as Kim Kardashian West made a surprise appearance along with their four children, North, Saint, Chicago and Psalm.
As Kanye debuted his album to the stadium and on a livestream through Apple Music, with songs containing material about his divorce from Kardashian in February 2021, Kardashian and their shared children listened on. Kardashian wore a red jumpsuit with matching red boots, which some people compare to West’s outfit, saying that the two might have intentionally matched. West wore a red snowsuit (in July?) with Yeezy 1020 boots and what looked like a stocking over his face.
The album’s title Donda is named after West’s deceased mother who died after plastic surgery complications in 2007. This is his first album since his 2019 release JESUS IS KING and his first album since his divorce from Kardashian in February 2021. While some artists take years to produce and release singles, Kanye wrote about and produced songs about the divorce in five months. People heal in all sorts of ways.
Kardashian decided to end the partnership when she realized that she and West “had nothing in common” and she confronted that fact that she felt “lonely” in their marriage. This came after West reportedly moved from state to state impulsively, and that he was never home with his kids or with Kardashian. Kardashian added that she often “third-wheeled” with sister Khloé Kardashian and then-boyfriend Tristan Thompson, and that made her realized what kind of companion she wanted and needed.
With that being said, it looks like Kardashian and West are trying their best to be supportive of one another for both themselves and their children. Kardashian even enlisted the help of West to help her rebrand her KKW Beauty company, with speculations that she’s dropping the “West” in her name turning out to be false. Additionally, Kardashian has stated in the past that even though their marriage of six years ultimately ended, she never wanted to alienate their four children from their father.
